Summary

Install the CLI through npm on Node.js 20 or newer and sign in with GitHub. Permission modes include plan, normal and acceptEdits; file edits do not always require confirmation. Five free models share a 60,000-credit daily usage allowance, subject to account and service-wide limits, while the 25,000 signup credits are separate. Optional credit packs start at US$3 as one-time purchases, with no subscription. The CLI works on local files, but sends conversations, read file contents and command output through Clixad's gateway and OpenRouter to model providers. Its privacy policy describes a storage exception for rated exchanges and separate provider retention.

Bottom line: Choose Clixad for a terminal workflow with flexible approvals and one-time top-ups, after checking free limits and remote data processing.

Clixad is a terminal coding agent that reads project files, proposes code changes and runs commands. The official setup guide requires Node.js 20 or newer, installs through npm and uses GitHub sign-in. Model access is provided through Clixad’s hosted gateway, so users do not need to supply individual provider API keys.

Approvals depend on the permission mode. The terms describe plan, which makes no changes; normal, which asks before changes and commands; and acceptEdits, which permits file edits without asking. Choose the mode deliberately and keep work in version control.

The free-model guide lists a shared allowance of 60,000 usage credits per account per day across five models, resetting at midnight UTC. A service-wide daily budget can also limit free access. The 25,000-credit signup bonus is separate. Additional usage can draw on earned credits or optional purchased packs: Mini costs $3 for 280,000 credits, Starter $5 for 500,000, Plus $15 for 1.65 million and Pro $50 for 6 million. These are one-time purchases, with no monthly subscription.

The CLI runs on your machine, but inference is remote. Its privacy policy says conversations, file contents read by the agent and command results pass through the gateway and OpenRouter to the selected model provider. Clixad generally does not retain this content, with an exception when users rate an exchange; provider retention also applies. Local installation therefore does not establish a self-hosted model service.
