imgmend vs VidMage

These aren't alternatives to each other. imgmend fixes still photos: it removes grain, restores old scans, and does upscaling, colorizing and background removal for a one-time $9.90. VidMage started as a face-swap tool (photos, videos, GIFs and live video on a Mac) and now also sells AI video and image generation on a subscription. You upload a JPG, PNG or WEBP of up to 10 MB in the browser and download the cleaned version, with no account. The free tier allows 3 images a day with a watermark. Pro is $9.90 once, not a subscription, and removes the watermark, adds full HD output and unlimited images, and covers all of the site's tools: denoise, background removal, watermark removal, scratch and crease repair, upscaling, colorizing and compression. The site says it uses Real-ESRGAN.

One correction to the older description on our listing: imgmend's own page says images are "processed in memory and deleted immediately", which means they go to its server. It doesn't claim the processing happens on your device.

VidMage

On the web, the free plan allows 15 photo face swaps a day, 20 seconds of video and 2 GIFs, with no watermark. The Mac app adds live face swap for Zoom, FaceTime or Twitch on Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later), and VidMage says the live feed is processed on the Mac rather than uploaded. Free Mac users get 5 watermarked minutes a day. The monthly plan is $14.99 for 400 credits; the yearly plan works out to $8.33 a month. VidMage also now lists an API and MCP server in beta, so the old "no API" line on our listing is out of date.
