ElevenLabs vs Wispr Flow
They point in opposite directions. ElevenLabs mostly turns text into speech (narration, cloned voices, dubbing) and also offers speech-to-text through its web tools and API. Wispr Flow turns your speech into typed text: hold a hotkey, talk, and cleaned-up writing appears in whatever app your cursor is in. If you want to type by voice, Wispr Flow is the product built for that; ElevenLabs is for making audio.
If you want to dictate
Wispr Flow runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android and works in any text field, removing filler words before the text lands. The free plan allows 2,000 words a week on desktop and 1,000 on mobile, which runs out fast if you dictate most of your email. Pro is $15 a month, or $12 a month billed annually, for unlimited words. ElevenLabs' speech-to-text is a separate kind of thing: you upload or stream audio and get a transcript back, billed at 330 credits per minute from your plan's pool. It isn't a system-wide dictation keyboard.
If you want a voice to speak your text
That's ElevenLabs' main job, and Wispr Flow doesn't do it at all. ElevenLabs' Free plan gives 10,000 credits a month for noncommercial use with attribution. Starter is $6 a month (30,000 credits, with a commercial license), Creator $22 (121,000), Pro $99 (600,000), Scale $299 and Business $990 with extra seats. Credits are shared across text-to-speech, transcription, dubbing and its other tools, and each product burns them at a different rate. Developers can call all of it through the API; Wispr Flow has no public API.
ElevenLabs: Pick ElevenLabs if you need narration, voiceovers, cloned voices or dubbing, or want speech and transcription through an API.
Wispr Flow: Pick Wispr Flow if you want to talk instead of type in every app on your computer and phone.

Wispr Flow
Flow works on a hotkey: hold it, speak, release, and polished text appears wherever your cursor sits — email, Slack, a code comment, a prompt box. The vendor states it runs across Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android, which means your dictation habit survives context switches that kill native solutions. The cleaning layer handles filler words and false starts before text lands, so what gets inserted reads like something you would have typed deliberately. The 2,000-word weekly cap on the free tier is a real ceiling — a lawyer or developer dictating for hours hits it inside two days. Teams needing HIPAA compliance should confirm current certification status directly with Wispr before committing patient or client data.
